CHUMS! - Colorado Homeschoolers and Unschoolers Meetup Site Homeschool Support Groups 2010-05-07
Welcome to CHUMS! We are a fun community and support network for homeschoolers, unschoolers and anyone providing a home-based education for their children in the greater Colorado Springs area and now, Southern Colorado, too! A "chum" is defined as a "close friend or pal". And that's exactly what we hope you'll find by joining our group! Our primary objective is to provide fun social connections for homeschooling children and parents, although we also schedule educational meetups from time to time. Who says learning isn't fun, right? Join us for: - Park days - Hikes and other "active" events - Tours of museums, exhibits, and local businesses - Play groups for the younger crowd and meetups for older kids (in-home and at fun locations around town) - "Parents only" meetups to connect with other parents for info-sharing and support - Various other member-initiated activities -- the possibilities are limitless! :-) We are an inclusive, fun, person-to-person group and welcome all families providing a home-based education for their children (our members come from all faiths, beliefs and backgrounds and, as a group, we do not subscribe to a specific set of views). Everyone is encouraged to plan activities and provide input into group direction. Our activities are driven by what our members are interested in, and we generally have at least 2-3 events each week. The more our members are willing to "host" (i.e. suggest an event be added to the calendar and then be the point of contact before and during that event), the more active our calendar is! So if you've been looking for a fun place to connect ( live and in person vs. just online! ) with other homeschooling families, we hope you'll join CHUMS today. We look forward to meeting you! Come on and play!!! :-)
