Description

The Boulder Public Library offers a Read to the Dog program where kids can practice reading out loud to a trained therapy dog.  We have found that this is a great confidence builder for kids.  Normally, the children have to be at least 7 years old to participate, but more importantly, they need to be able to read out loud for 10 to 20 minutes at a time although the dog’s handler helps with the occasional word. If a younger child fits into this category, we would be glad to include them.

School year hours:

Read to the Dog appointments are available beginning on the half-hour from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. as follows:

1st Thursday of the month at the George Reynolds Branch library in south Boulder.

2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Main Branch in downtown Boulder.

3rd Friday of the month at the Meadows Branch Library in east Boulder.

In the summer, the locations are the same, but the Main Branch and Meadows Branches are offering Read to the Dog appointments from 11 a.m. to 12:30  p.m.
